Handley has to expand a passion for community building, especially in the use of new media tools and create value. In fact, she was the co-founder of ClickZ.com, one of the first sources of interactive marketing news and commentary.

Previously, he was 12 years old. As an editor and writer for professional and business customers in local and national publications, including the Boston Globe

Of the current paper is MarkingProfs Handley columnist for Entrepreneur magazine, influential LinkedIn, a speaker and a mother - and she even took the time to share your thoughts with CMSWire.

Sobel: They are known as one of the best marketing consultants and authors in the business. How and where to start?

Handley: Well, first, thank you. And secondly, I began my career as a journalist and editor. Then came the Internet and never looked back. I co-founded ClickZ in 1997, when the flags of the "Internet" on sites essentially marketing brochure-ware. Mailing lists were avant-garde. It's funny, but true.

There was no Google, no Facebook, blogs, YouTube or Pinterest or Twitter or any Vine. There was zero social media and mobile marketing zero, of course. In other words, life was simpler then.

ClickZ 2000 and 2002 sold, I went Marketing Profs co-founder Allen Weiss as CEO of content.

Sobel: Have the goals you reached MarketingProfs? Where the company is now and where you want to see in the next few years?

Handley: Marketing Profs, considered initially as place where teachers and professionals to learn from each other. Allen Weiss is a Professor at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. Sharing a mast Twitter early the other day.

See the slogan? That pretty much says it all. Fourteen years after the header, our business has changed a bit.

We emphasize once again the marketing know-how, but in a sense we are back to our roots of education, the more training space. We publish a lot of content for our subscribers. But always, we also provide internal training and education for marketing teams of companies.

Education is the future of Marketing Profs, because. Upon our reputation, ability, longevity, history and brand We make more than most retailers, and we are in a unique position to have the equipment they need to succeed in a changing world.

I know it seems like I was just marketing copy, but it is not. It is true.

Sobel: What are the qualities of great content buyers should have?

Handley: training as a journalist. Nose of a story. Digital Intuition. Business sense. Social DNA. The sensitivity of the narrative. Ridiculously good writing skills.

Sobel: help your books to advertise or vice versa? And you can send us something about your current publications (both online and offline?)

Handley: I do not write books because I am promoting my business. I write books because I do not write any books. In other words, I have something to say - and I can not be silent about it.

Writing a book is terrible and painful and difficult. It's like birth Volkswagen. The process is as pretty as you can imagine it to be: is long and hard and sweat a lot, and most of the work is done grieving. No one in their right mind would go through, unless he could not get through it!
